Last May 2015, I stayed for a few days at the Hotel Nuevo Madrid for my holiday in Madrid, Spain. Overall, I had a pleasant and wonderful stay at the hotel but with the following important details.

The Room
(+ )The air-conditioned rooms at the Nuevo Madrid featured smart décor with soft tones. Each one had a minibar, a safe and a flat-screen TV with satellite channel.
(+) The room was sizeable and comfortable.
(+) The bathroom was the nicest feature in the room. It looked new, clean and comfortable with its marble tiling all around.
(-) The queen bed was firm but the bedsheets and pillow-cases looked old because they did not look white at all. The pillows were not fluffy either. The furniture gave the impression that the hotel had already been around for many years.

The Location
(-) The location was quite far, about 15-20 minutes away from the City center. We had to take a taxi everyday to site-see at the City centre and each time it cost us 50 euros.

The Staff
(+) The Staff in the reception were all very professional, friendly and very courteous, making sure my check-in process was short and efficient. The housekeeping staff were also very helpful in my request for an extra pillow, additional soaps and shampoos and laundry pick-up/delivery of our clothes.

(+)There was a strong and steady free WIFI available in our room which we enjoyed during our entire stay at the hotel.

(+)We had an overall comfortable stay in our bedroom, the air-conditioning working well especially that it was a hot summer.
(+) A very quiet hotel; sleeping at night was very restful.

Value for Money

Overall, I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. In itself, Hotel Nuevo Madrid offered great value for our money. However, when we factored in the 50 euro taxi fare per day due to its distance from the City Centre, I ended up spending 200 euros more for taxi services.
